Part-time team support & Bar Assistant

20-25 hours a week / £6.56 - £9.00 P/H depending on age and experience

Shifts are variable and subject to the business needs and will include late shifts

About Us

The Arcade Vaults is an unique not-for-profit community and venue for all things gaming, based in the centre of Cardiff, giving everyone the chance to play, make, understand, and learn about games.

The Job

Your role will be a diverse one spanning all aspects of the services offered by The Arcade Vaults. This includes, but is not limited to working behind the bar and serving drinks, food, merchandise and entry tickets, as well as staffing events.

Essential job requirements:

  • You will need to be able to operate a till and handle money.
  • The role requires that you make and serve cocktails, prepare food, make milkshakes, operate the bar and learn and understand the different types of drinks available.
  • You will need to collect glasses and plates, load the dishwasher and ensure the kitchen area and back bar areas are ready for service.
  • You will need to have some understanding of video games and a willingness to learn about older videogames.
  • You should be able to follow instructions, including simple recipes/ingredient lists but also demonstrate the ability to work independently. 
  • Stocking of drinks and confectionery will be needed.
  • You will be required to clean the venue, including the consoles and PCs.

Skills knowledge and experience:

  • Experience in hospitality and/or retail would be favourable, but not required as training in this and other areas will be available.
  • You will need to be able to actively engage with customers, some of whom need help and support with the videogames.
  • Some basic knowledge around game development, board games and/or Dungeons & Dragons would be favourable.
  • Communication skills, patience, organisation, honesty and a willingness to learn are essential.
